Bumper Technologies LLC ("Bumper," "we," "us," or "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and share information when you use the Bumper mobile application (the "App") and related services.

By using Bumper, you agree to the practices described in this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.

 

1. Information We Collect

a. Information You Provide

• Phone number (used for authentication via SMS OTP)

• Profile photo

• Age

• Messages sent within the App (limited to 5 per conversation)

b. Information We Collect Automatically

• Precise geolocation data — only when you toggle "on" and actively use the App

• Device type and operating system

• App usage data and interaction patterns

• IP address and network information

c. Information We Do Not Collect

We do not collect your full name, email address, social media profiles, or any information beyond what is listed above. Bumper is intentionally minimal.

 

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

• Enable real-time discovery of nearby users who are open to meeting

• Facilitate the "bump" interaction and limited in-app messaging

• Authenticate your account securely

• Improve and maintain App performance and reliability

• Detect and prevent fraud, abuse, or safety violations

• Comply with applicable legal obligations

 

3. Location Data

Location is the core of how Bumper works. Here's how we handle it:

• We only access your location when you have toggled "on" within the App.

• Your precise location is used to show you nearby users and show you to others in real time.

• When you toggle off, location sharing stops.

• We do not sell your location data or share it with advertisers.

• Location data is processed through Supabase with PostGIS, our backend infrastructure provider.

 

4. How We Share Your Information

We do not sell your personal data. We share information only in the following limited circumstances:

a. Service Providers

We use the following infrastructure providers to operate the App:

• Supabase — backend database, authentication, real-time services, and file storage (supabase.com)

• Apple / App Store — app distribution and in-app purchase processing

These providers are contractually obligated to protect your data and may not use it for their own purposes.

b. Legal Requirements

We may disclose information if required by law, subpoena, or government request, or if we believe disclosure is necessary to protect the rights, safety, or property of Bumper or others.

c. Business Transfers

If Bumper is acquired or merges with another company, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you before your data becomes subject to a different privacy policy.

 

5. Data Retention

We retain your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide our services. If you delete your account:

• Your profile and messages are deleted within 30 days.

• Location data is not stored beyond active sessions.

• Aggregated, non-identifiable usage data may be retained for analytics purposes.

 

6. Your Rights and Choices

Depending on where you live, you may have rights including:

• Access — request a copy of the personal data we hold about you

• Deletion — request deletion of your account and associated data

• Correction — request correction of inaccurate data

• Portability — receive your data in a machine-readable format

• Opt-out — disable location access at any time via your device settings or by toggling off in the App

7. Children's Privacy

Bumper is not intended for users under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from minors. If we become aware that a user is under 18, we will promptly delete their account and associated data. If you believe a minor has created an account, contact us at privacy@letsbump.co.

 

8. Security

We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your data, including:

• Row-level security on our database

• Encrypted data transmission (TLS)

• SMS OTP authentication (no passwords stored)

No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security, but we take your privacy seriously and work to minimize risk.

 

9. Third-Party Links

The App may contain links to third-party websites or services. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those third parties. Please review their privacy policies independently.

 

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last Updated" date at the top and, if changes are significant, notify you via the App. Your continued use of Bumper after changes are posted means you accept the updated policy.
